re=browser updates?

Hi Guys, Just checked my Browsers,Chrome and IE10 to see if they are up to date.They are not, and something is stopping be doing both.
1;Chome is saying this in" about Chrome".
Version 32.0.1685.0 Aura

Update failed (error: 3)An error occurred while checking for updates: Update check failed to start (error code 3: 0x80040154)

And there is a little blue "a" ,above customize and control Google Chrome icon, top right corner next to favourites on Browser Bar.
3 Horizontal bars.

2;IE 10 .Also when I click on similar icon,click," about IE",a dialogue box appears ,and says" Windows 10 has update,(KB2879017)",and box is already ticked to instal it, I closed the box , which then disappears but doesn,t instal update?
update KB2879017 is not in Windows update, even as optional??,or installed successfully.?
BUT, when I check for windows updates, there,s only 2 optional, which I don,t require,but KB2879017 isn,t there, even as an option, which it should be, OR am I wrong??.
Only important updates are selected to instal auto, in Control Panel and they are being done, but not this one?

Same as Chrome, Aura?

This says to me, both my Browsers are not up to date, and something preventing them?
Neither Browser says, Up to date?

Any advice appreciated.

Sorry if I don't fully understand, but:
1. if its very important to you, uninstall and reinstall may help. May not.
2. you could try running "sfc /scannow" from the command line if you think it may be a system file problem
3. anti-malware / anti-virus scan if you're concerned there.

all worth a try, perhaps. others may disagree!

Hi dan , thanks for advice, Chrome has been uninstalled twice, and re-installed as I was having network connection problems, that,s when I noticed the update not installed;, but Chrome is still the same.
I have not uninstalled IE, but cannot understand, if an update is there from ," About IE" why is it not shown in updates available, if it,s( KB2879017)?
Avast and Mbam find nothing untowards.
pc appears clean as a whistle, even from boot scan.

Hi D, thanks again, I must have downloaded beta version,don,t know how, I must have re-installed Chrome dozens of times. Up to date now

Any ideas about IE10 , (KB2879017)to instal version 10.0.10,from,version 10.0.9200.167211S ?
or have I got a beta version of IE as well, because (167211S) seems odd?
If so, got another link please for latest IE 10, ( not beta):-) or, will it not instal, like before, because beta is a later version.?
