Kitchen Worktop Width for Hob

This may sound like a really obvious/silly question but I just want to check before I order something completely wrong!

Will a standard sized gas hob of 33x590x510mm HxWxD with required recess of 555x475mm WxD fit okay into a laminate worktop width of 600mm?

For example, if it was centred in the worktop, that would leave 45mm front and back when installed and a 62.5mm 'strip' of non-cut-out worktop front and back once the hole is cut. Is that enough? Does 62.5mm risk the worktop being weak and snapping during installation?

It seems as though these are quite standard sizes so I am assuming that it will be fine, but I just wanted to check first and cannot seem to find the answer anywhere else. Thanks.

These are standard sizes for both aperture and worktop. There are hundreds of thousands of homes up and down the country that with this type of installations. I do this for a living and haven't had a call back about this.

    Don't worry, it's fine.
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.
  • dont forget you need a 60mm gap between the back of the gas hob and the wall but as phill99 sayings its standard

Thanks guys! It's my first flat and definitely my first new kitchen so I want to make sure I get this right. Really appreciate the advice and reassurance.

It will be fine but please check manufacturers specification on minimum gap between front edge of worktop and cutout.
