Thank you smoker99 for posting this

I have won a Trek bike worth £3100. I was informed last week but didnt want to post anything till I had it in my hands! I have just been to the bike shop today and had the press there too! was very embarassing.:embarasse
Although the bike is worth £3,000 it has no pedals! Now I asked about the pedals and was told it would be an extra £800. I cant afford £800 for pedals.
I cant see anything in the terms and conditions about it including pedals or not including pedals... but not sure what to do as I cant use this prize as cant afford the pedals. We have phoned the company direct and they just said that pedals are not included.
Do you think this is right? I do somehow think it is hilarious, its like winning a car with no steering wheel!
What would you do if it was you?

The T & Cs on the post says you can have an alternative of your choosing - can you choose one where the pedals are included with the price?
Well done on your win!0 -
I was just told to tell them a frame size and then the bike was delivered to be built at a local bike shop that sells those bikes...
Just seems a little odd to give away such an expensive bike and not bother giving any pedals lol

Congratulations!! But no pedals is unreal - just had a google though of '2014 Trek Domane 5.2' and there aren't pedals in any of the photos..
I'm sure you can get pedals for less than £800 though...

:-) the more expensive the bike, the more likely the rider is to want their own bit and pieces. peddles are quite individual.
You may be quite able to find much cheaper peddles, assuming the connection isn't proprietary.
Gratz on the win, hope it works out for you one way or another0 -
You could sell it or ask if you can swap for one of a similar value with pedals. I do think it is bad to offer a bike with no pedals as surely it has to be fit for purpose if it is a prize. It is not as though pedals are an optional extra! Good luck I hope you get it sorted.0

It's quite common for high-end road bikes to come without pedals, racing cyclists often use clipless (SPD) pedals. You don't have to shell out £800 for a set though - you can get much cheaper ones which will work fine - clipless or flat.
Are you planning on keeping the bike, or selling it? It's probably not the bike I'd suggest for someone who's never ridden a road bike before!2015 comp wins - £370.25

:j Lovely - very well done winning! Hope you find decent/cheaper set of pedals. xxxMILITARY WIVES CHOIRSHELP for HEROES0

Standard specs are pedals not supplied, it is a proper piece of kit not really for a basic cyclist.
Rather than get some pedals which you could get for well under £100 for a pair, sell it as is (unused) and you should get enough for a good road bike with cash left over.0
