Photos lost/recovery on XD camera memory cards -Undelete File Recovery software

I just checked 2 XD camera memory cards in my camera & they are not showing any images.
Think pictures may be lost. :eek:

I had the 2 cards sitting on my desk unprotected for maybe few weeks or a month among papers.

I think you can recover accidentally deleted photos etc., but not sure what has happened for photos on these cards to disappear.

Didn't think these cards were that sensitive, as I haven't been handling the cards.

What do people think ??

Have I lost the photos on these cards ??
Can I recover the photos ??
Any suggestions for website/software to recover lost photos ??

Hi Peter,

Try http://www.recuva.com/ this program can recover lost files from reformatted hard drives so imagine it should be able to do the same from flash cards.

I'd agree with fabbers, had a problem with an SD card full of piccies of my brothers wedding that went a little mad....recuva sorted everything out for me a treat

my grandparents "lost" their 50th anniversary photos on a memory card, we went to our local camera shop and they managed to rescue them for us, no idea how but worth asking in a camera shop

I have tried following File Recovery programs to recover my lost photo files:

Restoration -good, very quick, only 1 file at a time

FreeUndelete -very good, but need to confirm each file

PC Inspector -Smart Recovery -good, recovers photos other software cannot, but does not keep original file names & renames files

PC Inspector -File Recovery -slow, repeated confirm messages & errors

Recuva -didn't work, couldn't see any lost/deleted files to recover !!

PC Inspector -Smart Recovery manages to partially recover 5 out of these 12 problem photos.

In Windows Explorer I can see thumbnails of these 12 photos, but the programs cannot fully recover them & only PC Inspector -Smart Recovery partially recovers 5 out of these 12 problem photos.

1) Any further suggestions on File Recovery software to try to recover these 12 problem photos ??

2) Any suggestions on .JPG photo repair/recovery software ??
(I think I may have seen repair program when searching for software, but cannot find again)

Can anyone work out how this program works ??

I am trying to find some deleted files & cannot for the life of me work out where I scan for the deleted files using this program.

As you can see I used it in July, but cannot work it out anymore !!!!
