Received the letter this morning. If I switch I get the pleasure of paying a £30 early termination charge.
To me it seems that Npower have not kept to their side of the agreement so my question is there anything I can do about the £30 charge. Trading Standards?

What is the name of the tariff? Are you sure it was a fixed tariff and not a variable tariff with a fixed discount off the Standard tariff?0

Online Price Fix August 2014

According to this your price shouldn't be increasing.

Unfortunately that is not a fixed price tariff. It is a 2% discount off the standard tariff.0

Hang on - well, it depends, is it Energy Online August 2014 or Online Price Fix August 2014 - they are completely different.
Perhaps the merge mail has made a mistake.0 -
Are you sure ?
the Energy Online August 2014 tariff has a 2% discount discountdiscounthttps://customerservices.npower.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/662/related/1
But the 'Online Price Fix August 2014' you mentioned seems to be fixed.0 -
Looks like either I made a mistake or npower did when I signed up in May. I've been on fixed for a few years and that is what I would always choose.
Sorry for the noise.
