Can you share books on a Kindle?

Both my Mum and I do a lot of reading and we would both buy books and share them between us.

Now I've got a Kindle I don't buy so many print books but I have quite a few Kindle books I know my Mum would like to read. We were thinking of buying her a Kindle for Christmas but wondered if we could share the books?

She doesnt have any internet access unless she comes to my house and uses my computer, so any Kindle we bought would be registered to my Amazon account.

Can I have two seperate devices registered to my account?
Can I buy a book and read it on 'my' device and then pop it
onto my mums device?

Thanks

You can share books as long as both devices are registered to the same account
Have a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T
  • Share any kindle book you like WITHOUT having the same account ie remove the copyright protection (DRM) from Kindle ebooks. Obviously make sure when your mum is reading an un-DRM'd book, no-one else is reading it at the same time just like a physical paperback :p

You can share a kindle book with anyone you like.

Go into your 'manage you kindle' account. Find the book in the list that you want to share and in the drop down on the right hand side click Download & transfer via USB. The file is then on your laptop or PC ready for when you want to transfer the file from computer to whomever you want to lend it to.
You had me at your proper use of "you're".

Or use a piece of software called Calibre on your computer.
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

I had the old keyboard Kindle and just bought two of the new paperwhite ones. One for me and one for daughter for Christmas.
All three are registered on my account. Like you she reads same thing as me and she can have access to all my books.
One the new device they are stored in the cloud so she will only have to download them to her device as and when she wants them.
If she logs into my account to buy any more they will be charged to me but unless she is spending £££££s it wont matter.
I have over 100 books on mine so she has a lot to go at for the time being.
    Hope that helps
