Renting appliances

I need to move house before christmas. I dont have many belonging so i'm pretty much starting from scratch. i'm going to manage the deposit, application and admin fees but buying essentials is expensive. looking on second hand sights etc for white goods without much luck so I am considering renting a fridge/freezer and washer/dryer. what are the pro's and cons to this? thanks in advance for any help:D

    Pros

You can cancel at any time and send the goods back.

You do not need to pay anyone to move them from house to house.

    Cons

It's extremely expensive. You could pay more than 3 times the value of the items over a short period of time. A credit card could be much cheaper.

My advice...if the period of time that you intend to stay here is 6 months or less then go ahead and rent the items...otherwise buy them using credit if needed. Really though just ask there's plenty of free stuff around if you just let people know you are moving into a new house and have nothing.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Is there no British Heart Foundation shop near you, only they usually sell electrical items & appliances. They might not be as cheap as say a 2nd hand shop selling the same goods, but has got to be a lot better than paying out a fortune on renting items.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Have a look on Gumtree - people are always selling washing machines, fridge/freezers etc.

Also check out Freegle and Freecycle for free items.
