How long for electorall roll to update?

I am in the process of applying for a mortgage and at the moment my credit score is not high enough and my mortgage broker thinks this is because I am not on the electoral roll.

I moved from living with my partner to private rented accomodation with effect from 1st August but it completely slipped my mind to update the electoral roll until I started applying for a mortgage!

I submitted the relevant form to my council in early October and received confirmation on 10th October that it had been processed and I would be showing on the register from 1st November.

How long will it take for my equifax credit report to show this? The house I am looking to buy has been on the market for about 6 months and the owners are looking to take it off the market by the end of November if it hasn't been sold! This appears to be the only thing that is holding back my application.

Typically can take another 1-2months for this to be reflected on your credit files.

Ask you mortgage broker if the letter confirming you are not on the e/r could be sent to the lender who turned you down for a mortgage and if that might be enough to appeal the decision.

  • Hi,

I moved to a new place in June, and this was relected on my report in Aug.

Ask if the letter from the council will be enough, however if it's a large bank or BS I doubt they will allow it to be considered.

Might be best going to a small BS.
