Cheap Domain Transfer Company

Hope you can help I am a total novice when it comes to these things.

Some years ago someone I worked with set up some domain names for myself my husband and our business and we have these pointed to google mail. We don't have any content running on the domain names and use them purely for email ie: joe@joebloggs.com

As this person is a bit of a control freak, he has controlled and paid for the domain names over this time, but there has recently been a falling out between my boss and this person and they are cutting all ties with the Company I work for.

To cut a long story short, I need to transfer the domain names somewhere and pay for them myself, as these are just used for email I need to know which is the best site to use for this, must be simple and straightforward also! I have the authorisation keys for the transfers.

hope you can help

    I'd recommend https://www.1and1.co.uk
I use them for my domains.

(If I was smart enough, I'd actually put in a referral link which would mean I'd get commission if you signed up, but I haven't done that)
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

I can hang on if you want to find out how to do that! :)

I would be careful with 1&1, search for reviews first.

do you have control of the domain account these domains are in or does this other person.
it is only the person named as registrant that can move the domains, which need to be done from the domain control panel.

if they are .co.uk domains then i recommend 123-reg.co.uk and if they are .com domains then i suggest namecheap.com
  • thanks all,
    I will be the registrant.

Will have a look at all suggested sites, they are .com domains

    Eek - that's scary.

Thankfully not my experience, but I've only got about 10 sites hosted with them, so I'm probably not in the best position to comment.

I've got a couple of sites hosted with http://www.compila.com and also a few domains registered through them. They're very inexpensive but have been very responsive whenever I'd needed support.

Yes, I used to have multiple sites but its when something goes wrong you get to know how good a hosting provider is.

I use easyhosting.co.uk they are cheap, reliable and friendly with it. http://www.freeindex.co.uk/profile%28easyhosting%29_204757.htm
with easyhosting it will cost £9.97 to transfer the domain name in but it will add another year to the registration period, then £12 per for hosting but with the first 12 months free.
