That installation is at least 30 years old. The cable is probably early pvc.
The earth will be very poor... The lighting circuit might not have a earth. It really could do with a rewire.0 -
Nope. Although RCD's are a good idea and almost mandatory to comply with modern standards, a Periodic Inspection should not fail an installation for merely failing to meet modern standards.
That's not correct. If there are socket circuits which can supply outdoor equipment (OP said it was a house) then that's a code C2 on the Electrical Installation Condition Report (not called PIR anymore)- which is not a pass.
OP - my advice is still to get it tested0
