Still debating what to do about switching, currently on a fix with SP till April 2014 but cheap energy club say EDF is cheaper now.
Do I switch and lose 4months with SP or hold offa bit to see what others do?

On the surface, there does not seem to be a reason to wait. If an alternative, longer fix is cheaper then bailing may be okay. (Where it may be wrong is if you have a Apr 2014 and were looking for a more expensive Apr 2015 fix.)
There is little reason to wait for new (shorter) fixes - new ones are very unlikely to be cheaper than the current range.
The main quandary would be with longer fixes (2016/2017) that are more expensive.
Double check with an alternative comparison site the costs of the two tariffs and the leaving penalty for your current tariff (even if there is one the cheaper usage over this winter could easily balance that. Plus Scottish Power* tend to offer cashback - make sure you (If you decide to switch) to check Topcashback and Quidco and switch through one of them rather than the greedy MSE service.)
* Doh! Wrong way round. EDF don't have cashback offers currently so you may as well use CEC.0
