Staff and patients from the Bristol Breast Care Centre at Southmead
Hospital have entered a fun a video into the 2013 European Pink Glove
Dance Competition for a chance to win a €10,000 donation for the
charity BUST (Breast Cancer Unit Support Trust)
To win the money the video, which features staff and supporters of
BUST dancing in pink gloves to One Direction’s What Makes You
Beautiful, simply needs to gain the most votes.
To watch and vote for them go to
https://www.pinkglovedance.eu/videos/2013-video-contest/bristol-breast-care-centre/
and share the link with as many people as possible. You will be asked
to give your email address, and the website will then email you back
to confirm. Please be aware that this confirmation email can take up
to a couple of hours to come through, so please don't worry if it
doesn't come through immediately.
Voting starts on 25 October and runs through until November 8, 2013.
Voters can vote each day until the closing date and the winner will be
announced November 15.
The video features around 100 people comprising members of staff from
the Bristol Breast Care Centre including: surgeons, doctors and
nurses, as well as BUST committee members and breast cancer survivors.
Everyone is wearing pink gloves to raise awareness of the importance
of early detection of breast cancer and to remind people to check
their breasts every month, and have regular mammograms. Staff gave up
their own time to film the video on a Sunday when the unit was closed.

As a breast cancer survivor twice over now, can I just say that I hate the way breast cancer has turned into nothing more than a 'pink industry'. And could I also point out that there is considerable controversy as to the value of 'regular mammograms' as far too many women suffer unnecessary harm as a result of this procedure compared with the few who really benefit.'Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.' George Carlin0

Bristol came second. Thank you for those who voted.
To Janiebquick - I understand your frustrations, but surely the 'pink' is just a marketing idea, branding a concept and creating a logo? Is it that much different to the British Legion poppy, the AIDS awareness red ribbon or the Marie Curie daffodil? Not a criticism, just a thought..0
