You can drive it on the road to and from a pre booked MOT appointment as long as its insured..
Can you quote an official document which says this? The MOT people probably will not report you if they see you drive in and out of the MOT centre's gates without having your car taxed but does that mean that you will not be fined if you get videoed by the DVLNI cameras going to and from the centre.You wont really run into trouble with the police either if you get stopped as its not a road traffic offence anymore, its a licensing one. They might report you to the DVLA .0 -

Thanks that really is a surprise. Looks like I am guilty of thinking I knew the law based on what I thought it should be and not what it is. It's a pity I did not know that the last time I MOTed my car - lots of side roads taken!0
