Can you quote an official document which says this? The MOT people probably will not report you if they see you drive in and out of the MOT centre's gates without having your car taxed but does that mean that you will not be fined if you get videoed by the DVLNI cameras going to and from the centre.

I should have thought there would be no "might" about it otherwise they will be turning a blind eye to someone committing an offense.

Thanks that really is a surprise. Looks like I am guilty of thinking I knew the law based on what I thought it should be and not what it is. It's a pity I did not know that the last time I MOTed my car - lots of side roads taken!
