Advice needed

Hi all, just after a bit of advice.
Me and the girlfriend are looking at buying a new car as ours is on it's last legs!
We need a car that is economical and cheap to run as she does 40+ miles a day travelling to/from work. Plus it needs to be reliable, and last for 6+ years ideally
We have found a Kia Rio on autotrader for £5,395 which has been repaired after being a category D write off.
It has done 8,000 miles and is a 61 plate and looks a nice car.
We don't have a big budget so this would fit the bill nicely.
Does the 7 year warranty with Kia still stand after a category D?
Will my insurance quotes be increased?
Any info is really appreciated
Thanks

Phone Kia and ask them but I suspect the 7 year warranty wont stand now it's a write off. Even so, it's done 8,000 miles in 2 years. Has it spent ages sitting round waiting to be repaired and thus missed the service schedule which is no doubt essential to retain the 7 year warranty?0

Most cars will last for 6+ years, some will cost you hundreds, some will cost your thousands in this time - NO car will last for 6+ years without maintenance.
That said my last few cars that haven't cost me that much in real terms:
Current one - 02 reg Audi A4 tdi - 133,000 miles bought for £2500, done 5,000 miles so far with only tyres and oil servicing.
Previous car - 07 reg BMW 320d - 119,000 miles bought for £6,300 drove 45,000 miles and sold for £4,500 2 years later only every bought tyres and oil servicing and a wheel bearing.
Previous car to that - 53 reg Skoda Octavia 1.9 tdi - 100,000 bought for £2,500 drove 60,000 miles and sold for £1,700 3 years later, again bought tyres, oil servicing and brake pads and disks.
Don't be put off with cars with 6 figure mileages if they have good service hsitory, spend less and you lose less."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -
About a 30% saving on a dealer one but no Kia warranty if you read between the lines on the site.
When it had it's bump it was probably worth about £8k, so more than a minor knock. Ask to see photos before repair as the seller repaired it.
Might be worth considering a Hyundai instead.
Less money FSH and three years warranty left.

Lovely story Foxy, but doesn't really help the OP.0 -
I once had a fairly long argument with a Mr Willson about the length you could take the belief that ill-informed car buyers look for plate, presentation, price and provenance in that strict order. Here it appears the OP confirms that even when told the car has been written off, it is strictly white goods, rubbish performance and handling, feels like it is on crossplies, but it is low miles, "cheap" and a recent plate. so appears to fit the bill.
Why not try a same price Fiesta or Focus, much better in every department, but will be a year or more older but at the end of ownership, hold more of its value.0 -

The answer to the OP's question is in post #2, so all is not lost."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -

You should've shortened it to:
'I like German diesels, buy a German diesel'.0 -
