Insurance for people who upgrade drivers licence from Automatic to Manual

Hi,
Does anyone know of any insurance companies that provide good quotes for car insurance.
I have been driving with an automatic licence for 9.5 years and have 9 years no claims bonus, however in August 2013 I passed my manual test and now insurance companies are giving me sky high premiums due to the fact that recently passed my manual.
I would be very grateful if anybody could shed some light on this as I am feeling victimised due to the fact that my insurance will shoot so high when I have all this experience.
thanks.

Let me know which insurers asked you directly when you passed a specific driving test, I'll be sure to avoid them. Unless you went from years driving autos on a provisional then took the full manual test recently, doubtful anyone would care.0

Are you insuring a manual car or an auto ?
It's clear that if I've got a Full Moped Licence at aged 16, (and I actually did), then when I pass my Motorbike licence at aged 18, I can't legitimately say I've had a full licence and for 18 months and a full no claims for 2 years, without them getting confused and it did confuse them IIRC.
I guess that the websites are not set up with your problem in mind, so I'd use them to get a quote and then phone up to clarify your exact details.
I'm guessing but I think that they will honour your No claims and treat your driving experience as from the date you passed the first test, but you want to be squeaky clean that they have recorded all the details.0 -

Confused.com says:
Which license do you hold
How long have you held this license
So that could be where it's throwing the OP's quotes0 -
I'm not sure what's throwing that quoting system, and agree it is too black and white, but I changed my licence to "Full Auto" instead of manual on an old quote and it's come out cheaper! I guess OP this is one to pick up the phone and bypass the algorithms, they can't cope.0

This.
They all specifically ask what type of license you hold. An auto only license is restricted where a manual is classed as 'full' because you can drive either or.
Had this debate trying to add the Mrs to my auto Merc policy. Insurer struggled because she didn't have a full license in their eyes. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Thanks All,
I tried with Lloyds Bank and Hastings Direct, Hastings I am currently with insured with, however once my insurance is due for renewal then they said my premium will go higher. Llloyds I found of a comparison site but then phoned them up and they said they have to take the date of when I passed the Manual test as I am insuring a manual car.
This whole situation is extremely frustrating after driving so long but now effectively being classed as a new driver.0 -
Moons ago I went from a 1.6 petrol to a 2.5 auto. We bought it, registered it in the other halfs name and I drove it home on the 3rd party insurance as it didnt belong to me and we had the other car to get shot of.
Rang the insurers the next day expecting them to come up with some crazy increase per month and it went up a tenner. Go figure!
I think the insurers prefer autos as there is less for the driver to concentrate on. I've been using a manual recently (not by choice) and it must be said wiggling that stick around does take a bit of getting used to again lol0 -

See if a local broker (not swinton) can help and cut to the chase speaking direct to someone with sense at some insurers.0 -
You would probably be better going through a broker.
This is the one I use...

Tried hitting the web for quotes on the most optimistic scenario and then ringing the cheapest to explain & see what they offer?0
