I posted on here, then decide to ring them, and got straight through to a very helpful gent - ShockHorror! Here's the low down

New Tariffs come into effect on 01/11/2013, any outstanding direct debt discount will be pro-rata'd and discounted off your next bill (npower bills every 6 months)

NPower now has 3 tarrifs:-
Standard = Will vary, currently more expensive than either of 2 other tariffs
Price Fix April 15 = Elec = 14.87pence/kwh / Gas = 55p/day + 3.116p/kwh
Price Protector Dec 17 Elec = 16.85p/kwh / Gas = 14.39p/day + 4.618p/kwh

(no standing charge for electricity, these prices are for paying by direct debit as discount is now applied daily)

potentially useful information removed from existence. Why not include your original question so that anybody else in the same quandary can find it here, rather than have to ring them?
