Selling on an unwanted holiday

Options
Hi guys. I have a holiday for two to Tunisia booked in December and no longer want to go for various reasons. Thomas cook have said it will be £50 each to change the names on the tickets and to try and sell them on if I can. Does anyone know how I would go about this? Am I allowed to ask on facebook or 'down the pub'?

Thanks for any help, I'm not too bothered about the money, it just seems a shame for them to go to waste!

The suicide bomber outside a hotel in Tunisia yesterday won't help your plans and you need to be certain you can change both names, assuming two were travelling as many operators would consider that a cancellation. Most booking conditions say that if you are prevented from travelling, and just deciding you cannot afford it or are scared of travelling would not be seen as 'prevented', you can transfer the holiday but only up to 21 or 28 days before departure so you need to act fast. If this was a cheap holiday, would it not be better just to cancel and lose 30% and get the rest back without the hassle?

I gave 2 TC flight tickets to my daughter, who then changed both names OK
So I guess TC may be OK, but as said, Tunisia is not at the top of a lots of folks places they wish they were.
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

Thanks for the replies. It was a mega cheap holiday so I'm not too bothered about that, Thomas cook said I couldn't get any money back as its less than 14 weeks away. I'll just have to see if I know anyone who isn't scared of suicide bombers! (that was the straw that broke the camels back for me!)

Note 2: You are not permitted to change all the names on any booking and at least one of the passengers (over 18) on the original booking must remain, unless you are prevented from travelling for reasons beyond your control and not simply from a change of mind. Name changes on day of departure, where permitted, will incur additional administration costs.

It is never 100% cancellation charge at 14 weeks before departure, that is when cancellation charges begin to rise above the simple deposit being lost but 100% cancellation charges only apply within 14 or at most 21 days before departure

Oh dear, that makes it even worse, flying back on Christmas Day when there is no public transport at all and you come home to an empty house with no food. I really would investigate, by looking at the booking conditions, to see how much you lose by cancelling now.

What do the FCO say about Tunisia? If they change their line to 'do not go to Tunisia', they I'm sure that'll kick in your insurance policy cancellation clause?

FCO advice is just to 'take care' and hoping things get worse is a huge risk if Becky wants to recover some of her money. According to their on line booking conditions, unless this was a last minute booking, you should get some of your money back
