Ending Minimum Payment on Credit Cards

My OH says yesterday he heard on the news that credit card companies are going to end the minimum payment thing.

Thats all he caught.

Can't understand, if this is right, how it will work. Surely a minimum is needed. Will it be a case of they set the amount and thats it.

Anyone else heard this?
I'm stressed enough over this - please don't add to it.

Maybe it was something along the lines of "minimum payments can cause never ending debt" or something like that?
