Went to Jamie's Italian for dinner tonight, without a reservation, and managed to get a table with only a 10 minute wait!!!
Is our service sector led economy on the verge of collapsing?
Does the onset of winter and a bit of rain spell doom for 4th quarter GDP?
Does the fact that they only had one bottle of my favourite Tuscan Sangiovese wine left mean they're in trouble with their creditors and on the verge of collapse?
Hopefully the usual suspects will be along soon to confirm the world is about to end......;)

Black Wednesday.
TruckerTAccording to Clapton, I am a totally ignorant idiot.0 -
Gawd, Jamie's god awful Italian? If the masters of the universe like hamish are cutting back and going to cheap and nasty chain restaurants I think we can take this as a signal that austerity has finally kicked in.0

Didn't think the Scotch people ate foreign food.
Can you deep fry spaghetti in batter?0 -

We're all doomed. Today I noticed hundreds of spare restaurant seats. Mind you, I am in Istanbul and I wouldn't want to eat at most of them.
However, the free Club bar opens in 22 minutes for 'happy hour' - which in the Grand Hyatt is 2 hours. Free Gin & Tonics [and bubbles for Mrs LM] all round.......0 -

Well Jamie's hasn't really got a great reputation anyway. Head chef Jamie (pictured above) isn't best known for his kitchen hygiene Hamish. I would eat somewhere else if I were you.0 -

No good? There's one in Sydney I was thinking about taking Mrs Generali to. TBH I didn't even know it was a chain.
The prices are very reasonable for good food but toppy for chain crap.
This is where I was taken for dinner on Friday:

We sat at the out of focus table in the background. It was very, very good.0 -

Well that certainly wouldn't happen in Aberdeen.
We'd all need hip replacements by now if we engaged in such vulgar displays every time prices went up a few grand.:o“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Our Chief Economist at work made an excellent point a couple of months ago which is that if you take a positive view of the future then you will be right most often.
Yes, you will miss stuff like the GFC but you will also miss stuff like the 20% rise in stock markets this year and the latter happen much more often than the former.0
