Joint bank account, Husband has CCJ - should we close this or damage already done?

Hi everyone,
As in the title, myself and my Husband have had a joint account since Jan 2012, (opened before we knew he had a CCJ on his record).
We will be applying for a mortgage jointly within the next six to nine months and I am wondering whether closing the account would be a good idea? Or whether the damage has already been done now and it will not make a difference if we have the joint account as we will be applying jointly anyway?

Thanks for any advice.

Also, I have deposit money in a very low interest rate savings account at the moment, and am too scared to move banks for a better savings account incase they decline on the basis of DH's CCJ. Do banks decline savings accounts because of this? I just don't want to apply and be rejected and have more searches on our files...

Thanks in advance

If you close the account the association has to disappear. If it remains, you can remove it by adding a notice of dissociation to your files.

However, if it's a joint mortgage that you are applying for, I don't see any point in closing the account.

Normally banks don't do credit checks for savings accounts applications.

The issue is your husbands CCJ. This is going to impact your mortgage application.

They do ID checks though (as you know :)), and I'm sure they look at 'public information' on your credit file such as CCJs, bankruptcy, etc.

Whether they'd refuse a savings account due to a CCJ is a different matter though.
