Seems i've upset him by asking for another payment method and not Paypal

The mutual withdrawl thing can be a bit risky, as if they click the wrong box you get lumbered with paying the fees...

Reporting them as a NPB might be a safer way to make sure that you get your fees back.
    The money, Dave...

def report as a npb - they seem (maybe wrongly) as wanting to have taken a untrackable method of delivery and screwed you over.

I had something similar over a £200 sale, buyer paid then sent a message asking to arrange own delivery or collection, I said sorry but no, for paypal I would have to arrange delivery to satisfy paypal, I said they could ring me to pay direct, I refunded them and I never heard from them again, so I either upset their delicate sensibilites or they were up to something - they had 0 feedback too.

hi.. sounded a bit fishy to me... as lets be honest if you are paying £250. for something, as a buyer wouldnt you want some sort of tracking  even if you were arranging pick up ...

or he has found out the cost of the courier and it was more than they thought

or he was using a back street/mate as a favour....

I think using npb is unfair.

He is right in that you didn't insist on a trackable courier beforehand and you didn't say he couldn't use paypal.
You now want to change the terms of sale after the auction.
He has been quite helpful is agreeing to help you get your fees back IMO.
There is nothing wrong with him using his own vehicle or a trusted mate.
You should have specified your condtions up front and not afterwards and then expect to penalise him.

I think he's being quite reasonable to I would trust him and withdraw from the auction.
He's not a non paying bidder. He's only pulling out because YOU have changed the terms of sale which although understandable is not his fault.

Just the way I see it. Hope it all works out.

I also think this is a fair interpreation of events. I'd just leave it at that and treat it as a lesson learned for similar auctions in the future.

    Hi Lisyloo

I apologised to the buyer and explained that if he was using Paypal for payment I would rather he used a trackable courier (as i said in my first post, I replied to his message about own courier without thinking it through). If not i'd prefer Direct bank transfer of the funds.

Again as i've said before what if the item went missing, He could make a claim for item not recieved through paypal and wins. I would be down £255 and could not claim for my lost item off the courier as i didnt hold the contract with them.

As Dave Brooker said on this thread "The mutual withdrawl thing can be a bit risky, as if they click the wrong box you get lumbered with paying the fees..."

I agree, And if that were the case i'd be happy to accept cash on collection.
But the buyer wanted to pay through Paypal. And the buyer lives in the highlands of Scotland. I'd say a good 300 odd miles from where i live.

    I
think he's being quite reasonable to I would trust him and withdraw from the auction.
He's not a non paying bidder. He's only pulling out because YOU have changed the terms of sale which although understandable is not his fault.

I've never said in any of my posts that i would put in a NPB against the buyer, It was not my intention to change the terms of sale, Didnt think through all the in's and out's before hand.

I also understand him pulling out, In away.

But again is seems to me as if buyers want the sellers to take all the risks and cover their own a#@%s.
As soon as the seller wants a bit of protection, Buyer goes off in a huff
Just the way I see it. Hope it all works out

Me too and thanks for your opinion, lisyloo :T

    :rolleyes2 :naughty:
