O2 remove offshore islands from inclusive minutes
Hello
I'd like to garner some thoughts on this and any advice would be welcome!
O2 text today to say landline calls to Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man will be removed from the inclusive minutes from December 4th.
I have family and friends on all three Islands. One of the reasons for taking this contract was because calls home were included. I'm roughly halfway through a 2yr iPhone contract.
It's not what I signed up for. What do you think my chances of being let out with no financial penalty are? O2's T&C's still state:
1. Inclusive minutes on Pay Monthly tariffs can be used for calls made in the UK from your SIM Card to: UK landlines (starting 01, 02 or 03);
Jersey no's start 01534, Guernsey 01481 and IOM 01624...
Thoughts are welcome, thanks!

Jersey Guernsey and Isle of Man are not part of the UK, consider the inclusive calls in the past as a bonus, I'm with O2 and have never known those islands to be part of the bundled allowance.0

There is another recent thread about this.

They have been included for several years. Longer ago some were included and some not, but the situation was regularised to include them all from about March in 2007 or 2008 (I'd have to check old emails or bills to confirm the year). For a few months from then the website said they were included for a promotional period to that September, but in practice this never ended.0 -

The promotion is the mitigating circumstance for the company, I fear the OP will not be able to terminate early without exit penalty on this matter, it's not like any other provider is offering those islands inclusive within the offered bundle, so the cynic in me suspects clasping at straws to escape the long 24 month agreement ........yet again.0 -
Those of us who live in the Isle of Man are teated as being overseas by UK mobile phone providers, and so our calls to and from UK always cost more than they would if we were in UK. Equally if you come to IoM from UK or elsewhere you will need to acquire a IoM sim card to use it in the IoM. There is only one provider in IoM, ManxTelecom.0

No it isn't. That was for 5 or 6 months, and since then they've been included without being described as a promotion. Maybe my choice of words was poor; I mean the inclusion didn't end, rather than the promotion.0 -

True, that's because the IOM is overseas, constitutionally speaking. It is not part of the UK and never has been, it's a self-governing British Crown Dependency. That's why you have your own parliament.
The Channel Islands have a similar status.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
True. The Isle of Man is a Crown dependency which is not part of the UK, the EU or the EEA. It is part of the UK and EU only for VAT purposes, unlike the Channel Islands and Gibraltar which are not. However, Gibraltar is in the EU. Complicated, isn't it?0

I just received the same text and was wondering where I stand, only signed a contract with O2 4 months ago and the majority of my minutes go on family in the Isle of Man. It was never described as a promotional offer to me just an accepted part of the contract. Can they now change their part of the contract??0
