Finance broker fees

Hi was wondering if anyone could help me? Just newbie so not sure how this works as yet ? I had an email about applying for a credit card? I filled the application in online and then it redirected me to a loan company as it said I was not approved for their card but this company could help. I filled the application in and before realising it they had debited £79.99 from my bank account? I contacted the bank and they said that there wasn't anything I could do? It really didn't make it clear from the start that they did this and were acting as a finance broker and this was their fee. The website had no telephone contact number and I e mailed them , they said they would refund me, if I wrote to them. I have written and constantly e mailed them but receive no replies. They state they do not use the services of payday lenders or deal with anything less than £1000 but I only requested £ 500 and now I am bombarded with telephone calls and texts mostly from payday loan companies offering me £250.? I know that charging a fee is not illegal but I feel they do not make this clear and are preying on vulnerable people who need financial assistance

It probably did if you read the T&Cs properly before signing up - these low life brokers know they are skating close to the edge of legitimacy, so their T&Cs usually make clear what they will charge and what it is for and how to cancel.Camberleygirl wrote: »The website had no telephone contact number and I e mailed them , they said they would refund me, if I wrote to them.
If you have written to them and they have failed to refund (how long ago was this?) then I would try your bank again - explain to them that it is an unauthorised transaction as they have failed to refund you despite you following their instructions. Don't bother talking to the chimps in the call centre or branch staff - ask to speak to the disputes department.
If you get nowhere then complain about the broker to the FOS.
Which broker/website was it - a post here might help others avoid being conned by them in future.0 -

A few questions,
So you received the email and did you click on the email which linked to a site ?
Who was the email from ?
So you wrote to them and had no reply, when was this ?
What do the T&C's say about a refund ?0 -
Thank you for your reply. The company is called Direct Loans, I wasn't sure if I could post their name on here, I really don't want other people to fall for this and be £79.99 lighter in their bank accounts. It was over two weeks ago? I have tried searching their address for a contact number but have gotten nowhere? It also states that refund requests should be sent to an address in Wigtown, but the reply I had stated to send the request to Manchester ? I have kept copies of all correspondence and sent the letter recorded delivery. I will contact the bank and if they can't help I will contact the FOS. Although it does state this fee when you look closely at the T&C it doesn't make it clear from the onset and they take your money within seconds. I may not be able to get my money back, but I will do my upmost to make sure that no one else falls into their trap.0

The email was for a shout credit card but they then link you to direct loan website, the terms and conditions clearly state you can request a refund if not happy and they have already emailed saying that I could have a refund although email very unprofessional. The letter was sent two weeks ago.0

So where does the credit card come into it then ?
Who was that email from and did you click on the link in the email ?0 -
I had an email from this shout credit card and I applied thinking it was ok as it wasn't in my junk mail ? After applying and being turned down for their card it automatically links you to this company so it looks like you are applying for a credit card ?0

My questions were answered in your last reply
Yes contact your bank and try the FOS if no luck.
