Scottish Power - Replace Faulty Meter / IT system broke

Hi all,

I am a Scottish Power customer and the display has failed on my meter. I have spent the last two days trying to get the meter changed. The latest update is that there are:-
a) appointments available within the week
b) I can't have one because Scottish Power's IT system isn't talking to the meter services system.
c) Scottish power can't arrange for my meter to be swapped until the IT system is fixed - yet they don't know when this will be.

Is anyone else having this problem and know anything about how to resolve / get my meter changed?

My dilemma is that my fixed tariff is due to end soon and I am concerned that I can't move to another supplier until the meter is fixed.

Anyone any views?
Thanks in advance.

    Get in touch with your MP. Switch to supplier who can change the meter, insist on that.

    In the meantime, as you are experiencing the inability of am energy company actually not doing the simplest of tasks as they should be, preventing you from actually knowing use, choosing which supplier, and presumably causing you stress, grief, then perhaps you might consider signing this e-petition I have set up;

    Cheers, best of luck with your MP and getting meter changed. Steve
  • You have what is known as a " blank screen ", not uncommon with a certain type of small digital meter. You will be getting an estimated bill for the period until its replaced. I can tell you that there are many people I meet who are quite happy to have estimated electric usage as it means they can use as much as they want. One I know is heating electric and has saved on his gas central heating, even making sure he s not in if they come to replace the meter
