Do you have a carbon monoxide detector?

I just wondered how many of you have a carbon monoxide detector?

For some reason I have just decided that I should have one. I have a gas boiler and a gas fire.

My house has 3 floors, so I have just ordered 2 detectors, one for the entrance hall and one for the first landing. The top bedroom is rarely used and from what I understand the alarm will be loud enough to be heard throughout the house anyway.

If you have them, where have you located them?

I did have in my old house but I don't think I have one where I live now. Should probably get one...

I had to move them out of the bedroom and living room as they made far too much noise even when I threw the cover over the cage.

Yes. I have a very basic one. It's on the wall in my kitchen as my boiler is in a cupboard in there.

Read the instructions that come with the alarm as to where to put them and check www,gassaferegister.co.uk for advice

Also remember that the batteries will need to be checked on a regular basis and changed

    - above door height
    - not above window's or radiators
    - at least 3 an preferably 9 foot from any combustion appliance gas boiler / fire / etc

We had one fitted by British Gas Engineer when he did our combi boiler service as all we have was one of the spot ones. This is placed above the airing cupboard door as the boiler is in the airing cupboard in the main bedroom.

Have a plug in jobbie in the kitchen. only a smallish flat though.
Given how easy it is to die from carbon monoxide poisoning if something does go wrong, i'd always have one

I have dumped one in the hallway

I thought CO was heavier than air so it was better to place it lower down

It kills fifty a year and I still am gobsmacked that the government has not mandated installation of these.
