A random question about email comps (WARNING VERY TRIVIAL AND BORING) :D

Aw hun, I was kidding. It all makes perfect sense. I'm just in that mood today
I think it's daft when an emailed comp asks for an email address. I always think that they didn't think that they'll get the address automatically. Or perhaps it's easy for them to C&P for marketing or whatever?
I wouldn't risk not obliging them though. Better to give them what they ask for, in my humbles.
Blu X
Haha I agree about giving them what they ask for, we dont want to anger the lovely competition peopleWe might be blacklisted

I agree that it makes no sense to ask fro your email address in an email, but I also include it in my signature as it doesn't hurt.
It is, of course, no more ludicrous than the web based comps that require you to supply all your details to register for the site, then log in, and then complete them all again in the entry form. Surely if you need to log in, a simple form just asking for the answer and any other comp specific info should do the job? There are some sites that do this, but many that do not.0 -

Oww yes I can see how that would be equally annoying, luckily I haven't come across any of those yet, but surely if they already have your details there's no need for you to repeat them:starmod: Looking for the lucky dust :starmod:

Not a trivial or boring question at all - I've wondered about it for years.
Sadly, I am not quite bright enough to come up with a sensible answer like cristalfiona!Living with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0 -

Haha i'm glad i'm not alone, and Fiona's answer was rather clever, I wouldn't have managed to think outside the box like that:starmod: Looking for the lucky dust :starmod:

Perhaps another reason is that some people have their emails set up to have a different return address, and not always intentionally.
One of my friends got his daughter to set up his email account, so when I receive messages from him, they appear to be from 'Dad', and if I hit 'reply', it never works, because she made a spelling mistake in the reply-to address. I have told him about this, but he's never bothered to change it, so goodness knows how many emails he's missed.
By making you type it out again, perhaps they're trying to make sure the address is correct.0
