Fuel Direct - British Gas

I was on fuel direct for gas and electricity with British gas. As I sometimes find it hard to keep up with bills. This has been working fine for years. Paying my debt off and keeping on top of my current usage.

My gas account is fine, I'm still on fuel direct.

However British gas have randomly cancelled my electricity fuel direct for no reason. I contacted the DWP and they have told me British gas cancelled it and asked for no more payments to be taken directly.

So I phoned British gas, they said they cannot out me back on it and I have to have a prepayment meter. They said they didn't cancel it, i was getting through to a call centre in Asia somewhere who were not overly helpful and refused to connect my call to fuel direct.

What can I do? I cannot see why they cannot reinstate the payments, I receive the correct benefits and have disabilities which mean I couldn't even get to a shop often enough to buy electricity. I also don't see why I should be forever to pre payments and pay them overpriced init prices.

Any information would be helpful, I cannot even find a telephone number for fuel direct.
