Best bank if living in Australia and UK

I am looking at a person in my family, who is going to be living mostly in Australia, but also will have UK assets.

They are looking for a bank that is prominent in Australia, and the UK, where they can operate a sterling and Australian bank account in their home currency.

They want the ability to switch between the UK and the overseas accounts easily as well

Any suggestions as to the bank etc

I think HSBC offer some sort of such service. Do they call it 'Premier'?

However, why does it have to be the same bank?

As grumbler says, HSBC operate in both the UK and Australia. If your family member has a HSBC account in the UK, they will help them open an account with HSBC Australia. Depending on the type of account your relative holds with them, there may be a one off charge.

HSBC doesn't have as many branches in Australia as here but you can use Australian post offices as well.

Otherwise, I think Barclays has some form of tie-up with Westpac
