Got one done on my car that I purcahsed 2 months ago... came up as a scrapped car!!!!!

Even though they provide telephone help line - it was just an answering machine.

    Email helpline- was bounced!

After spending the morning talking to the selling agent ( who guaranteed clean history check) and DVLA, HPI did get back to me , and after they spoke to DVLA admitted it was their error- and have amended file.

So spending a fiver that I did not intend to spend this morning costs me a morning of phoning around & worry.

Suppose at least I know when I sell it, the HPI should be correct and clear

Any idea how long this will last for? I got an HPI check when I bought my current car! Its a must even if its just for peace of mind!

  • I'm quite angry as I have just purchased a car through Hartwell Ford and they have charged me a £75 admin fee for a compulsary H.P.I. certificate which seems a lot a money compared to what is stated on here.

I don't know how they can warrant charging that amount we you can get them as cheap as a fiver!
  • Hi,
