Just bare in mind if the bank share the information it will only start sharing current data. They won't share previous data so I very much doubt what you want to achieve will actually make any difference. They will most likely add the account share the account opening date and one green zero from the current date from experience then report going forward.

The previous data isn't the issue. All that needs to be shown is that he can be trusted with a higher credit limit (i.e a £3k overdraft on his current account, regardless whether he has used it or not), in order for a lender to be sure he can be trusted with a mortgage.

Not sure an Overdraft would ever be regarded in such esteem..

OD's tend to be short term arrangements as result of issues in cashflow and monthly planning, they are not continuing agreements and can be called in by the bank as & when needed - e.g. on receipt of salary they could step back the OD limit given (other posts on here where this has happened)- so may not always be voluntarily settled - i.e. Salary funded rather then making a 'decision' to pay towards (unless have different current accounts).

Credit Cards and loan agreements are on-going \ fixed term agreements that show the consumer has chosen to meet there commitments.
