Insurance

Just wondered how much everyone paid for their insurance? For months I've been meaning to change my cat so that she's on M&S instead of Petplan, so that my dog and cat are with the same people. Finally get around to it today, and it's so not worth it. They've put their prices up in the last 4 months.

I went with Petplan for the cat because it was "only" £11.04 and they are supposed to be the best.

I went with M&S for the dog because it's cheaper than Petplan and I pay £20.74. But I just decided to do another quote and even this has gone up in the last few months!

I'm sure on here I've heard that people pay less, but I do want the "per year" thing rather than condition, or do I? Is this really that important?
Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

(End 2021) - £131,215.25 DID IT!!!
(End 2022) - Target £116,213.81

Don't do Argos, they only pay out up to a certain amount, thats why they are very cheap. Even though M&S are increasing their prices, they are still one of the best.

I would still consider going with M&S, I like their excess free policy. Just think of all the minor treatments under £60 you are able to claim back. They have been brilliant with our dog who was diagnosed with leukaemia in November. His treatment so far is around £3000, some policies you would pay either £50 excess or about 15% of the cost whichever is the greater. On that basis this would have cost me £450 so far on top of the annual premium. They are also very efficient at dealing with the claims.
  • I went with m & s because of thier no excess policy, it was only £9 extra than my original quote, if you animal is looking slightly off colour just to be sure you can take them to the vets, and dont have to be worried about the cost.

M&S quoted me £460 (38 per month) for my 6 year old, healthy, no problems in the past, greyhound

Just for comparison I pay between £14 and £15 p/m each for my crossbreeds with PetPlan. However their excess is between £70 and £80 - which is going a bit if the dog just needs £50 worth of treatment.

You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.

but that's why it's £70/80 so that people don't quote for every single little thing.

Yes, but M&S seem to manage a profitable business with people claiming without an excess. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.:) Wouldn't change from PetPlan though. They've been excellent so far. I put in a claim for #3 dog's most recent treatment in on 11th June and the cheque arrived this morning.

Just been talking to my friend this morning who has recently rehomed a greyhound. She was quoted £20 p/m by PetPlan with a £50 excess.
