And giving free boilers and insulation to landlords (eg https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4803268
Are those grants only available to landlords?
I would have thought the government should be helping those in need (such as the low income families) rather than filthy rich landlords.
Or is the rental business now so badly on it's knees that its a myth that landlords are filthy rich and are now actually in dire financial straits? What will happen if they leave the business entirely, especially with the dearth of available council housing.
Are these freebies available to help tenants who often are people who cannot afford to buy their own property, or is it just for the palaces the landlords themselves live in?0 -
One of the points brought up by a couple of the business leaders yesterday was that bills should make it absolutely clear what levies the customer is paying, like in most other EU countries. So instead of everything being rolled into unit rates and standing charges, you have a standing charge, unit rate, and then levy amount (plus VAT).
I think it's a good idea but I doubt Ofgem would approve though as their goal is to simplify bills rather than complicate them.0 -

It is the tenants who qualify, but of course in the long run it is the landlord and tenant who benefit.
It is also available for homeowners who meet the same qualifying criteria.0
