  • Sorry OP but this is a transaction you are not likely to have to make many times in a lifetime.

Make time to go to the bank- if Mon - Fri impossible chose one open on Sat morning?? What would happen at work if you had a real emergency? If you have to make one up!
  • It wasn't the estate agent that was the problem. It was proving it to get approved for the mortgage. I provided my ISA, which they went over plenty of transactions. Same with my wifes. Where did this come from, where did that come from. So i then had to supply bank statements which opened all manner of questions. Why are you transferring this here, why that there, where does that originate from. Our IFA played a blinder in getting that put to bed.

MUFC (am also a fan btw. What do you reckon to Moyes out of interest?) - unfortunately i work most Saturday's. I've only had 7 Saturday's off all year to give you some idea of how often i get a Saturday off.
As it turns out - i'm actually off this Saturday.

As far as emergency goes, i couldn't turn in & say "i have an emergency". They'd not accept it. Someone would have to call & say they're dying or something.
  • Just something regarding this faster payment lark - is it account or bank specific?

If bank then i should be ok (Santander, Natwest & Nationwide would be involved). If account specific then i'm not so sure. My Santander cash ISA, wife's Flexclusive ISA with Nationwide & then Nationwide FlexAccounts.

You need to check what is available for each account, many savings accounts will not let you make payments to anything other than a single specified account. Of the three accounts you have given, the Flexaccount is fine, Flexclusive won't allow it (but there must be a Flexaccount that goes with it so an immediate transfer to that account would be required), and while I don't know about the Santander account most ISAs will not allow FPS transfers.
  • I didn't know that. I've got that message a little late then.

Money out of Flexclusive ISA into FlexAccount & sent to solicitor in 2 lumps (due to their £10k limit).
Money direct from Santander ISA to solicitor in 1 lump (as much higher limit).

When i paid the 10% i went from my Santander ISA to my FlexAccount to solicitors account, all within 5 minutes & the following day the solicitor said they'd got it. Fingers crossed.

Been told we've exchanged & we should complete on the proposed date.
