Hey Alex don't give up yet, you made a good start already.
Anything we could help with if you are getting stuck? Usually lots of folk with ideas on here
Thank you and not giving up yet, even though today was a spend day.
Any ideas for how to stop spending small amounts on groceries continually when you don't use supermarkets very often?2018 totals:

I know exactly where that constable has been Nargle:rotfl: And you should know as well as me about the medication given we're on the same dosage
It might actually have some effect too if Hubert didn't keep eating it, does no one feed that poor donkey?
Well no NSD here, had a breakfast gathering at a friends (apparently it's like a night out but for those with kids or who can't be 'arrised with going out so much now), then stopped off to get the xmas turkey that is now in the freezer (15% off today in case anyone was wondering why I had bought one quite so early - its from a 'home cooked freezer centre' type place), dropped OH to watch the football, stopped in town for some essentials and last min bits for the show tomorrow, over to dress rehearsal, back to pick up OH and now sitting comfortably on the sofa. Am pooped!
Also having i bit of a ponder. OH 'needs' a certain item for xmas (specific type of thing, but which one not actually specified) I thought i'd found what I was going to order, then saw one he might like in town today, but it wasn't very expensive. I don't want to get it for him and seem / feel like a cheapskate. Any suggestions?
I did think about getting him both as they will both get used up (one could also be everyday, the other for going out / weekends) but although it is the kind of thing where people do often have a couple of different 'flavours',you wouldn't normally buy two at the same time.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Good Evening Folks,
I managed to survive the conference, although there was free flowing wine at the dinner on Thursday and I may have had far too much Red:o. So much so in fact, that last night was the first Friday night in a long time that I didn't have any Red:eek:
I had a spend on Thursday, but had an NSD yesterday, so am able to declare NSD4:)
I had a spendy today, as I had to get some shopping and liquid gold! Have made leek and potato soup today and am now making sundried tomato bread. I will take my parents some tomorrow! I hope everyone is well and enjoying the weekend.
Kerri, only you can really decide if you want to buy both of whatever the items are for you OH for xmas, so hope you get it sorted asap:)If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

Knit Witch - awww I'm sure MissE001 will update with your targets and achievements soon. But well done on NSD # 6 and achieving 6 in-a-row. :j:j That's fantastic, you're doing really well, keep going. Are you going out and staying away from the shops or are you just staying in all the time.
Basically staying in! The two spendy days have been two lunches at the pub :rotfl:
Today was another NSD - so now up to 7 please!Must use my stash up!0 -
Evening
I hope everyone is well.
You may remember I was looking forward to a slower pace of life and I'm still waiting......
It's been a mixed week of news really and confession time.
I had a spend day every day this week due to shortage of time and poor planning on my part. All relatively low spends other than Thursday when I had to do a grocery shop and spent more than usual as I was out of quite a lot of staples and bought some alcohol for over Christmas.
Although I am no longer including any expenses for work, I had £20 worth on Monday.
Had to buy lunch 4 out of 5 days and felt terribly guilty but needs must. Donations to the British Legion for a poppy and to Help for Heroes mid-week and two birthday collections on Thursday.
I also received an e-mail on Thursday evening to advise my electricity bill 'was ready' but unfortunately I wasn't ready to check it so waited until last night. As previously, I was expecting an increase (I live in an all electric flat) but it's gone down by £15 per month until March which I am guessing is because I haven't been home very much recently and have taken advice of others on this forum to switch off at the socket and not leave on standby.
I have been catching up on housework today so it's been NSD3 for me.NSD Challenge 2015: Jan 20 / 20 (2 x 5 in-a-row) / Feb 5 / 12 (4 in-a-row)

Failed today/yesterday
Been away with friends and spent into my savings account. Some of that is okay because I bought some Christmas presents and that was what they were for. Also bought new boots (needed but not budgeted) for me and some books (not needed nor budgeted). Feel bad for spending Christmas money on me but relieved that I can make it up easily next month. Is a lesson in not budgeting QUITE so tightly next month I think, am not going to feel bad for £20 on entertainment in a month and £30 on necessary shoes. Tomorrow will be SFD though as just grocery shopping.

Hello lovely NSD-ers old and new
I'd like to rejoin (again) if you'll have me back after my one-off appearance in September:o I've had a really bad few months work-wise and, on top of that, t'internet's been playing silly boogers as well:mad:
A mega-thank you to MissE, ETO (hello lovely, how are you and babs?) and Sazzie for keeping the thread going, you're all super:staradmin:staradmin:staradmins:T:T If you need any help, please just shout. I can't commit to doing regular updates atm but am happy to do the odd one here and there and give the odd [STRIKE]kick up the bum [/STRIKE]motivational speech:D if needed, or provide some pics if you're struggling with doing them.
I've had a quick skim through the posts and noticed a couple of our lovely gang have been in car accidents - hugs to you both - and a mega-hug to charleybear - he's not worthy of you, hun :A
Huge hugs to Freeby, hope you're OK hunny :A
And.. if you'll have me back, I'd like to sign up for 20 NSDs please and I've managed to grab 7 of the little devils so far
Lots of good numbers being posted already so well done to everyone and here's to a great November :beer:The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time

Eeeeeekkkkkkkkkkk, strandeinaber, I spotted the dreaded "fail" word, best remove that before MissE and ETO spot that:D:D
We don't "fail" on this thread, life just sometimes gets in the way of our ambitions... and if you needed the boots, then they were a good spend.
Don't be too hard on yourself, £20 on entertainment and £30 on necessary boots is nothing to get annoyed about in the greater scheme of things, especially if you can make it up next month.

Any ideas for how to stop spending small amounts on groceries continually when you don't use supermarkets very often?
Hi Alex
Don't give up, getting the hang of NSDs can be tricky to start with. There's no formula, it's just getting into a spending pattern which benefits you and helps to cut out unnecessary spends.
As you don't use supermarkets very often, I can see why you spend small amounts on groceries on a number of days. Have you thought about setting a budget for the week for these spends and not counting any days you use this budget as a spend day, provided you use it for what it was intended for, of course.:D
Hope this helps, if not, there are lots of people on here with a lot of experience in nabbing NSDs, I'm sure we can find you some more ideas to help
Good luck

ETA: Have a look at the post I've just added - you might get some ideas from there as wellThe time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time
