Aqua credit card - beware

I have only had one issue with Aqua, for some reason since they changed the system I can no longer pay online and via the phone they keep saying the transaction failed. Apparently something to do with address being written differently (got that changed too but still not working - another story). Anyway, so they gave me bank details to pay via my bank, I did, paid the whole thing, then used the card on holiday. Turns out those bank details were recently changed, so my payment failed. I managed to prove that I did send the money on time via my bank, and that the details that were given over the phone were outdated, they took back the 12 quid charge and gave me their new bank details and I've managed to pay it all off and they've been really helpful with this.
I now no longer use the card if I am anywhere near the limit and I've made a payment until I have checked it has actually arrived at Aqua. Learned my lesson.CC1: [STRIKE]£2080.00 £1550 [/STRIKE] Paid off! :j
CC2:[STRIKE]£1040.30 £420.00[/STRIKE] £1450 0% interest till Feb 2015
Total: [STRIKE]£3320.30[/STRIKE] (Oct 2012) - £1450.00 (Feb 2014)0 -
And that will be his/her 1st and only post!!
That's their choice, but if lots of people are telling me that I'm wrong then I tend to listen and learn.
Of courset there is a choice to dbelieve that the rest of the world is wrong, It's not usually the case though.0 -
It's interesting, this is the first case I've heard of of someone going over the limit, ringing aqua to ask them to remove the overlimit fee, and being refused.
I guess the OP failed the attitude test (claiming the problem was aqua letting them go over the limit, rather than the OP taking responsibility), or it depends on other account activity (e.g. not paying in full each month).
OP - the credit limit is there for the benefit of the card company, not you. Transactions are not always processed 'online', so it would be impossible for the card company to strictly enforce the limit anyway. The card company could reasonably assume that you are aware of your balance, and so you are happy to have an overlimit transaction, so by making the transaction you are agreeing to the fee (which is on every statement, and your T&Cs, anyway)0 -

I think we have all tried to stick to the facts and not get too personal, but certainly the OP appears to have an attitude that this is Aqua's fault whereas it is in fact the OP's responsibility.
This attitude would together with a sense of entitlement to a refund would certainly not help appeal to anyone's better nature.
In this situation you need to eat humble pie and try to provide an explanation and hope someone will take pity on you, not demand a refund as a right.
Aqua have never allowed me to go over my limit.
One case (not my fault) a company had a reseveration on my card an out of stock item. I didn't know about this reservation but Aqua stopped me going over my limit.
So in my experience they are a very good company.0 -

Yes, I should have been clearer there, I was indeed referring to the OP's misconceived claim above that it was the card company's responsibility to stop them going over limit.
However politely the OP puts such claims, it demonstrates a relaxed attitude to their borrowing commitments, I expect aqua will be less concerned about showing discretion to such customers.0
