i have a smilar problem.
i have a new job 0900-1800 mon to fri
cant get though on website
not talking calls cant get through
today they took 9.99 that i really cant afford but im unable to get through to them.
now some of my bills wont be covered
dont know what to do
Exactly the same here, £9.99 taken, disc that was apparently sent a week ago has not arrived and the two I sent back over a week ago they have apparently not received
What happens when they keep taking the money, don't deliver the goods and don't provide a method of cancelling?0 -
I'm interested to see others having the same issues with the online DVD rental.
I actually decided to take them at face value when they said they were trading as normal and tried to upgrade to the 3 x discs at the same time package on 31st Oct. The website produced an error so I emailed but though they acknowledged the email they haven't replied.
Neither of the discs I sent back since they went into administration have been logged as having been received on the website. I can't yet report them lost on the website as it makes you wait 9 days, but it is suspicious timing.
They managed to take my payment on 3rd Nov though.
I actually had really good service on the DVD rental until the administration and am still hoping things get back on track once they've done more restructuring. My personal opinion is that the online business has a future but the shops don't - and in the worst case of the business folding completely I imagine the online rental business would be sold to lovefilm. The customer database for that must be worth something...
I can think of a couple of options to stop payments - it might work to update your credit card details on the site giving invalid details deliberately? Or alternatively you could phone your card provider and say you'd lost the card, then they'd stop it and send a new one. Of course you'd be without a card for a few days...0 -

Hi guys,
Blockbuster says its online subscription scheme, where you pay a monthly fee to get DVDs or games posted to your home, has been suspended.
Any money taken from customers' accounts in the past week is in the process of being refunded automatically, and Blockbuster will also refund the portion of customers' subscription where it hasn't supplied the service.
We've updated the article to reflect this.

I don't see how the bills part is relevant - if they'd still been supplying the discs you'd have still had £9.99 taken and wouldn't be able to cover your bills regardless.
If it's a direct debit you can cancel it, if it's a recurring card payment you can now cancel those through your bank.
If £9.99 is the difference between paying bills and not paying bills, I'd honestly look to spend the money on something other than DVD/game rentals. I've been in a similar situation myself. :beer:0 -

My prediction:
All the high-street stores will sadly be closed, the brand will still exist online with another company buying the branding & the online system.
Am I right in thinking that Blockbusters in the USA has closed all it's high-street branches recently?0
