I'm REALLY stuck!!
when I keyed in Martin's https://www.cd-wow.com/affid=14024&pp_nr=1 for the internet address , it changed it to www6.cd-wow.com/404.php
Help, please - what is the actual promotion code I have to enter to finish shopping and the 75p off?
And what's the actual website?????0 -
Just a word of warning to anyone whoo signs up to Lovefilm dvd rental through CDWOW, the service is becoming non existant to the point they any DVD'S I might receive are free as they can not gaurantee supply and hav'nt for over a week now. Firstly they blamed the Royal Mail but recently admitted it was their fault. I don't know if this has reflected on their CD side. >:( and wonder if they are going bust ?
I've been signed up with Lovefilm, formerly DVDs on Tap, for a year now. Their service is't perfect but I don't think it is affected by any occurances at cd-wow as Online Rentals Ltd (LoveFilm) are a separate organisation. I think that the only operational problems they are suffering are due to not having enough copies of DVD's, a problem with increased popularity I think, my rental queue grew to around 40 dvds, I was being sent films from the bottom end, I presume because of the lack of copies of films at the top end. On the whole I think the service is great, but they could do better at compensating you when they screw up.....I'd say about 1 screw up every 2 months, but i'd blaim royal mail for half of these, as DVD's went missing both en route to ORL and en route to me. :-/
Better than the coporate giant that is Blockbuster, in my eyes at least, value for money is miles better.0 -

Thanks for the tip, saved me £2.25. You seem to have to order each cd separately to get the discount but delivery is free anyway so doesnt matter.

I too am having trouble with this.
Whether I click on the link or cut and paste the address I never see the CDs with the 75p discount applied - even when selecting one and going through to checkout.
Anyone any idea what's wrong? ???
Thanks.sufferinsnickerinrickrastadley0 -
OK - for people its not working for - clear out your cookies and temp files:
Goto Tools ->Internet Options -> Delete Cookies -> Delete Files -> Delete History
Now click on the above link and you should get your 75p off - its only for the first order (once you put one CD into your basket the prices will go back up to the normal level), so order each cd one at a time and remember to combine with money off e-vouchers...
You may also need to turn off ad-blocking/firewall software as well?0 -
"As for the rights and wrongs of using alternative vouchers etc, CD WOW could stop all this by simply applying lower prices all of the time and not play the voucher game. Vendors cannot blame customers if they work the system to their own benefit."
I am sorry but some people seem to forget that business HAVE to make a profit. Not all are bad, they do have staff to pay ( some of us here are probably some ). As long as they are offering us a fair price then thats good enough. The idea that you get something for nothing is rubbish and just as wrong as a company over
charging.
The idea of the site , to me, is to get a good FAIR price .This I find it does well.
Thanks for the link Martin, it is a great idea to work with the companys. ;D ;D ;DOld Faithful we roam the range together,
Old Faithful in any kind of weather,
When the round up days are over,
And the Boulevard’s white with clover,
For you old faithful pal of mine.
Giddy up old fella cos the moon is yellow tonight,
Giddy up old fella cos the moon is mellow and bright,
There’s a coyote crying at the moon above,
Carry me back to the one I love,
And you old faithful pal of mine.0 -
The 75p discount is all well and good but to really get the best value and be a true money saver you need to be able to beat the region restrictions when buying dvds.
Take "The Day After To Tomorrow" for example , if you remove the unfair barrier to free trade imposed by the film studios when they decided to add region coding to dvds then you can make even bigger savings.
DVD Region 1 The Day After Tomorrow: Widescreen Edition £13.24
DVD Region 3 The Day After Tomorrow: 2 Disc Edition £10.24
DVD Region 2 The Day After Tomorrow: Special Edition £15.24
If your dvd player is fixed to region 2 only as is the case with all players sold in europe then you have to pay £15.24 but remove this restriction and you only pay £10.24 for the Region 3 version saving £5.00 or approx 30% !!
Many dvd players can be made "Multiregion" for FREE so you can potentially make these savings for FREE. Search for your DVD player on the link below to see if you have a player that can be made multiregion for free.
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks
If however you have bought a branded dvd player such as a Sony , Panasonic / Technic , Pioneer or JVC then you are very unlikely to be able to hack these for free unless you have access to a Palm PDA or Pronto type remote in which case you may be able to use these type of hacks from the link above.
If your player cannot be hacked from it's existing remote and you dont have access to a PALM or Pronto to use the appropriate Palm / Pronto hack from the link above then you may have to think about ( shock horror )spending money on renting or buying a device to remove this restriction ( or buy a new dvd player that can be hacked ).
http://www.dvdchips.co.uk rent out special tools and "chipped remotes" specifically to remove region restrictions. They typically charge around 20 quid so you would have to be a regular buyer of dvds for this to be worthwhile.
There is a discount code available which is supposed to be for members of http//www.thedvdforums.com ( you can register for free if you care that much ) and this can be found at http://www.dvdchips.co.uk/thedvdforums but it's currently a pathetic 10% off but this tends to change each month.
At the end of the day if you can hack your dvd player for FREE then you have nothing to loose and everything to gain but if you have to pay for it then you have to consider whether it's worth it or not based on how many dvds you buy and what you can save.
Happy money saving
