Car ownership dispute
Hi, desperately need some help as DVLA are threatening a fine as I have "uninsured car".
Earlier this year I had been looking at buying a new car, although in the end I didn't buy it. For the last 8 weeks I have been receiving letters from the DVLA claiming I have ownership of this car and have not insured it. I have never been the owner of this car and therefore never received a registration document for said car. Although I have told the DVLA this they have now wrote to me requesting that I must report it as stolen/lost or make them aware of the new owners details to transfer ownership. I have contacted the garage where the car was being sold and they are unwilling to give me the new owners details. As I have never owned this vehicle I do not understand how I am the registered keeper and do not know what to do now regarding the DVLA uninsured vehicle claim.
HELP!!!!!

Run an HPI check on the car to see if there is any finance owing....the garage may well of used your details to take out finance on it in your name...you could visit the police with any information but I doubt they will help you much.
They may of made a mistake when they eventually sold it or there could be more to this."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -
This is either a simple error - (but I can't see how if you never bought the car or put a deposit on it) - a new scam.
I would be going to your local cop shop asap. and show them the letters.0 -
As above if you didn't buy it, But you know of the car how did the DVLA get your details?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

You have nothing to worry about in the long term. I suspect this is gonna be a pita short term though. Id get a lawyer to write to the dvla accusing em of libel. Shock tatics.0
