Hi,
I switched my bank account from Halifax to First Direct earlier this month, all went ok in the end, I have my £125, my Halifax current account has vanished from my Halifax Online banking.
I got an e-mail from Microsoft the other day saying my Xbox Gold membership has auto renewed at £39.99, only problem is I checked my account and they still have my old Halifax debit card details and the account is closed.
So firstly not sure how it auto renewed on a closed card.
No money has come out of my First Direct account to Microsoft, so my question is what will happen next?
I have a feeling my wages this month will still try and go into my old Halifax Account (I work on the railway and changes are slow to implement) these should automatically appear in my First Direct account.
Will Halifax take the £39.99 before sending my wages over?
Thanks

Neither canceling the card nor even closing the account stops CPA. And as it is linked to the card it cannot be transferred with the account.
In the best case scenario Halifax will chase you for this money. In the worst case scenario if they mess this up (unlikely I think) you can get a default in your credit history.
Wages, if they go to a closed account, are likely to get bounced.0 -
I got a letter today saying my Barclays account is now closed but for the next 12 months any credits made to my Barclays account will be sent over and any debits will be claimed from my Halifax account x you will probably find that the £39.99 will show up on your first direct account soon x0

Thanks for the replies.
I have no issue paying the bill at all, I just didn't want to contact Halifax myself as the main reason for me leaving was their shocking in branch and telephone customer service.
I'll wait and see what happens.
oh and with the new switch guarantee service any credits to the old account get transferred to your new account for 13 months, my last wages went to Halifax and showed up same day as a standing order in my First Direct account.0 -
I was probably wrong as the things might have changed recently after the new transfer system has been launched.0

Any recurring charges to your debit card under a CPA will need to be recreated with your new card details, as they're not automatically transferred over.0

You will get contacted by MS to ask for new payment details when they realise that they haven't actually been able to collect the money.0
