Anyone have an elderly cat go through general anaesthesia? UPDATE

I'm possibly too late with my post, but here goes.
Nine years ago, I found (eventually caught!) in my garden, the most beautiful Silver Persian Chinchilla which had been dumped and abandoned in my street and was in a sorry, matted state. I called her Poppy.
During those nine years Poppy was never away from the vets; she had kidney failure (successfully treated with Fortekor); she had numerous other medical problems; she had two strokes, had high blood pressure, (causing her total blindness); and then in January this year a lump on her back started to get much bigger. As well as that, her breath had become unpleasant and she had difficulty eating. With the lump and the dental problems, I was forced to make the most reluctant decisions ever, to allow 15 year old Poppy to be put under general anaesthetic. Come the dreaded time, I refused to leave the waiting room until the operations were over and she had come round from the anaesthetics. I'm glad to say, both ops were successful and Poppy totally recovered, despite all her health problems.
I do feel I made the right decisions at the time, but can't deny it was a really difficult time for me. However, but it was worth it in the end. Good luck to you too, if you decide to go ahead.0
