Anyone used Empire Direct before?

thanks so much for all your replies - am a little wary of using them as I'm really not good when it comes to problems with your item - hassle I could do without!! will take all your comments on board before deciding.
Many, many thanks your all great!!0 -
You're fine using Empire Direct so long as there are no problems with the product. Recently purchased 37" TV that was faulty - absolute nightmare! Their customer service is appalling - had to fight to get it returned (after only 2 days!) and to get our money back - will never use them again. In the end purchased better spec TV for less money via www.Laskys - great service!
So just be warned!
Laskeys are the discount online version of Comet, same staff and offices, you will probably have similar or even worse problems if anything goes wrong.0 -
I used Empire yesterday due to additionsdirect charging me more than agreed for a item (coming Wednesday but refusing it) Item from Empire ordered is coming on Thursday, its a large white goods item, and its already been credited cashback to TCB. Used the 10% code which brings it down to almost the same as when we agreed price with Additionsdirect had they told me one price but charged me a different price0

I've used them 2 or 3 times and can only think of 1 "issue" that I had that was quickly resolved in my favour.
I ordered a TV/Video combi but unfortunately they had none in stock at the time. A delivery was due in in a few days time so they would reserve one for me. When the expected delivery date passed I phoned them to ask where my TV was, they were a bit embarrassed to say that, although I had reserved one, someone else had sold it. They then said that I could upgrade the TV to one in the next highest price bracket. This newly ordered TV turned up the next day (only 2 days after my original order was expected).0 -

Quick delivery - very good in my experience.
No you didn't get a pair of Levi 501's from them! This is not Empire Stores - don't worry at least one person makes this mistake everytime someone asks about Empire Direct. All the World is a Stage; and I'm going through a difficult one at the moment!0 -
I've bought a Hoover and ICE from them and never had any problem at all - even managed to negotiate a discount over the phone for the ICE as it was a little cheaper elsewhere !!

Bought quite a few things off them in the past, never had a problem and always give me a ring to tell me when the goods will be delivered or on back order etc.0

ONE bit of advice is that you'll be best PHONING them to place your order if you want to be (relatively) sure that you get an 'in stock' item actually allocated to you.
Many of us ordered ONLINE an "in stock" Sony laptop for c£400 on Monday afternoon and were "too late" as the limited stock isn't allocated in realtime, so later phone orders got preference (though obviously missed out on any online rebate discounts via 3rd party referral sites - quidco/mutualpoints etc).0 -
Would never use them again.0
