New born in cot bed but don't look cosy

Hi, wondering if anyone can help with this. We have our new born in a cot bed but he looks tiny in it and does not look that cosy.
We were wondering what other people have done to make the baby look for cosy, he didn't want to sleep in the cot last night.
We have a bouncy chair that lays virtually flat for use from birth and it's a little enclosed around him and he loves that, also the same enclosed felling with the car seat.
We were wondering if there is anything that is safe that we can use to make the cot bed smaller so baby is more enclosed and comfortable?
Thank you for your help.

Im no expert on babies as mine is not born yet, but how about a moses basket?
My cousins baby slept in a moses basket for a little while after birth and looked very snug
They dont have to cost a huge amount either
Hope that helps0 -
A moses basket again! They could lay in the basket in the cot if you wanted at night. If you got one with a stand would then be great during the daytime too.
You can get secondhand ones on eBay or local Facebook selling sites for next to nothing.0 -
Babies like to feel swaddled up, i used a blanket to swaddle and moses basket with all 3 of mine and they slept like a 'baby' My daughter used the same method with her baby when she was born a few months ago, when she moved her from the basket to cot she started using one of the sleeping bags and the baby has always been a good sleeper. Have a word with your health visitor she might be able to take a look at your 'set up' and give some suggestions.0

Babies often don't like lying flat in the first few weeks, but whatever you do don't leave baby in a car seat for any length of time. They aren't at all good for them. DD slept on me for the first 4 months, and in our bed for the first 9 months.
The cot might be cold. You could try warming it with a hot water bottle before putting him in there. A t-shirt that smells like mum might help too.
Is it in your room?Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
My DS2 was admitted to hospital when he was 3 weeks old and what they did there was to take a rolled up bath sheet and form a circle with it which makes a circular nest inside the large cotbed, then cover the nest with a cot sheet and put the baby inside that with the normal blankets or babygro. It certainly worked for him and save the expense or hassle of buying or borrowing a moses basket if you don't have one already (most babies grow out of a moses basket between 8 and 12 weeks so if yours is already a few weeks old you won't get much use out of it for this child at least

If you google it, others have described the technique a lot better than I did, and you can use more than one towel to make the nest bigger if you need to.0 -
According to today's news if you're going to swaddle, make sure you do it loosely.0

My daughter has 2 moses baskets. One for upstairs and one for downstairs but he is growing out of them. When we have had him overnight she has always bought one of the moses baskets with her but a few weeks ago we bought a 'Space Saver' cot. Its like a normal cot but is smaller and with the bumpers around edge, he looks snug and sleeps well in it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. DD and DS slept in their moses basket for the first couple of months - we had the cot up in our room but my midwife suggested putting the moses basket into the cot which is what we did. With DD we borrowed a moses basket from a friend, which was great as we could just give it back when we''d finished with it so it didn't clutter the place up, and with DS a friend bought us one, which I then passed on to a friend.
As for swaddling, I didn't have to with DD, but DS loved being bundled up. With him I also had to do the hot water bottle to warm the basket before he went in it trick as he was born in the middle of a pretty cold winter. I also put an unwashed pyjama top of mine in there too in the early days, hopefully for comfort!!
JxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0
