Cost effective to fix - Fridge/Freezer - Only freezing at bottom

Hi all,
Thought this question may fit the forum nicely....
It looks like I'd be charged about £60 for someone to look at it with parts then on top, so likely looking at £100ish.
Other option is buy a new one for about £250.
Hoover Fridge/Freezer (frost free) . Freezer only cold at very bottom. Fridge fine.
HOOVER N1B HNMF2805AAL
Cost £340 back in 2006, so it's getting on a bit.
Fridge is working with no problems.
Freezer however, noticed yesterday afternoon that anything in the top half of the freezer was defrosting.
Bottom was still frozen though.
Removed all contents and removed the inside backing panel.
Coils had a fair bit of ice on the very top of them but nothing too excessive I don't think...
Fan, I've seen it running but doesn't appear to run for that long
When I checked this morning the fan wasn't running
One person has said I probably have a restricted system, the other has said it sounds more like a deicing problem.
(this fridge freezer uses a control module (£60) to control the frostfree deicing system)
My other option is to just buy this, same size but not frost free.

Sooooo, do I have someone look at it?
Or, buy a new fridge freezer for about £250, same size but the freezer wont be frost free so will be a lesser model

Dont waste your money, 7 years use is well above average. get a new one.
i speak from bitter experiance my last 2 FF FFrezzrs (Candy & Beko) only lasted 2 1/2 yrsw each, & ive just wasted £50 on a new thermostat, that didnt cure the fault.
Its well known that a Frost Free is not as reliable.0 -
Thanks,
We were heading that way but weren't sure whether to just bite the bullet0 -
If you want something reliable that will last long, subject to your budget, go for a Bosch, Siemens, Samsung or LG.
The likes of Beko, Candy and other cheap/own brand ones won't last as long.If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!
