Tuesday 29th Oct - What Small DFW Things Will You Be Doing Today??!

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:
Good morning
It's hard to believe I am so wide awake, bright bushy tailed at this early juncture but I am!
Had some shocking news yesterday from work about a colleague giving in their notice. Feel bad I didn't recognise how difficult it was for her
Anyway up early as have to leave at 7.30 so I have enough time to prepare for back to back meetings all day (5 between 9-5) hopefully I'll get a lunch break!
Candy congrats on your new job :j is it local?
Well my DFW things for the da:
* checked banking - interest earned on 123 account £13.40 :T
* BLD from stores - breakfast will be marmite sandwich on the drive to work, lunch soup from freezer & banana & dinner needs to be something quick and easy as will be working in the evening!
* return very dress - must do this today!
* purchasing a car seat for dd from facebay for £20
* other than the car seat not spend any money
* get oh to change euros back to £
* send off breakdown claim
* call Victoria Plumb :mad:
* ask oh to take dd to drs - she's really not well & looking after dgd is going to be hard for her today
Ok really just work work work for me today! Nearly at the end of my extremely hard month :T
Have a great day everyone x

Morning! I too am bright-eyed and bushy-tailed this morning. Possibly due to delicious dream about Mr Darcy just before waking.
Thanks to DNMS for starting us off
Here is today's proposed roundup:
Good DFW things- Charge phone in work - done
- Overtime until 7.30
- B/L/D from stores (reduced fruit bread/rice & reduced houmous salad with reduced pitta/poss left over pizza if OH doesn't eat it or something else)
- Put Kenco reward points into account (am running out of free coffee!) - done
- Look for m-i-l's Christmas present. Have had to scale down my original idea due to cost
- Use saved gift bags/ribbon/tissue paper to wrap m-i-l's birthday scarf (which is much softer thanks to internet solution)
- Heating still OFF. Although was nippy for the first time this morning
- OH stayed out at the pub last night. Spend: unknown.
- OH going out with uni mates for birthday tonight. Spend: Possibly astronomical. - apparently he isn't going out now
- I am getting in late from work. Always tempting to pick up something quick for dinner from Tesco. Must resist. Having said that, I don't have any money left (paid on Thursday) so not too bad!

Morning everyone :0)
Up just before 7am with our puppy. She has learnt to whimper/call out she is awake now from behind the stair gate at the bottom of the stairs.
I am a home maker so at home most days.
I save money in many different ways.Cutting the house bills is good!
Low tv package, Low for duel fuel bill.
Stopped buying papers/magazines. I read the daily mail online several times a day for FREE!
Dept Free is something we all dream about. Most people have dept, even if it is the mortgage or loan.
today, I am spending! I have bought a new sewing machine. Replacing my 40 year old Singer with a modern Brother machine.
I love crafting and make many things. give a lot away as gifts.
Saving! for my new sewing machine I saved £27 using a code, £6 with Quidco and will have a lot of pleasure using it.
Washing done and on line
Checked emails for any surveys.. Just had £20 M&S vouchers for doing some.. So worth spending time filling them out.
NO heating on. Hoping to hold off till November.
Happy Halloween. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -

Morning all,
Would have been on here earlier had it not been for spotting a MOUSE scuttling under the cooker. Nooooooo!!!!! Not scared of them at all, but they're a nuisance & it's several years since we last had this problem. Cat refusing to help out.
Today's small positive things:
*Try to find humane mouse trap in shed. Also find bait boxes from last time as back-up.
*Ran washing machine & heated airer overnight on Economy 7. Big items hanging outside in sunshine. Heated airer won't be going on again until tonight's cheaper tariff.
*Carry on doing all my little energy saving measures. Downloaded new bill yesterday & after running a debit on energy account for ages, we now have £123 credit towards the winter. Result! I do sometimes feel a bit OTT sharing bath water, refusing to run washer on daytime tariff, saving hot water in flask, etc, but it's obviously helped.
*Heating still off, except for bathroom heater just for an hour first thing.
*Made chicken stew from some of the rubber chicken divvied up yesterday. Made it early so can get some of it in the freezer before mr f comes home. mr f can eat his bodyweight in stew, so I sometimes have to think ahead if I'm intending some for another meal.
*Pulled home grown leeks, picked, blanched & froze the last of the runner beans.
*Read the Guardian online instead of buying one.
*Carry on knitting little baby socks for friend who is expecting a baby.
*Decide what to do with pear glut.....probably more pear chutney, as mr f says it's one of his faves & I haven't made enough!
That's it for me with the penny-saving stuff. Have a good day, everyone.

Afternoon all,
Sorry I’ve been AWOL (again) but (again) life has got in the way
Thank you for the congrats about my new job, I am SUPER excited. It is for a drinks company based in a village outside my hometown. It’ll be a change as I have been at my role for 3.5 years (almost) but I am looking forward to being less stressed and generally a happy bunny. And as I will have a bit more time at home, I should be able to post on here more regularly.
So, today I have/will:
• Dinner from stores (unfortunately, breakfast and lunch was bought)
• Need to wash clothes on a short wash and hang in the airing cupboard to dry
• Need to put pennies into savings pots
• Have a shower tonight (rather than in the morning)
• Have an early night
• Read papers online and a free paper at the station
• Used railpass to get to work
Think that is about it – love to you all, I have missed you all

Not very DFW but I just want to get through the day at work without crying!! Will have a productive list once I can become me again!!! A new year, new month, new focus and new hope - must stay on the right path for my dreams to come true![/CENTER]
It's not all about central heating and spot lights - cherish wrapping up warm and using candles! It's the small things in life!!0
