why not organize a boycott one of the big 6

It would be interesting if someone with good social media twitter facebook etc and media skills were to organize a boycott of one of the big six,for example british gas,if this boycott got lots of national publicity and support said company would either have to lower prices of go out of buisness giving customers a better say.Shame Martin can't organize this!

As I've posted elsewhere previously, money saving aint necessarily just a short term thing so, yes, I reckon that if "the big 6" were to lose masses of customers then they would have to change or go out of business. Personally, my preference is for smaller suppliers who have at least half-decent ethical stances ie sustainable, cooperatives or what have you - I'm with the coop who compete ok whilst not being the cheapest, is a UK company and operate their business in a way I personally like. The sooner more move the better off they and this country will be. Do I think it will happen? Nah not in my lifetime but we can live in hope cant we.

There is no competition its just a big cartel,wipe one out the remaining five may think on and hope they are not the next,otherwise do nothing and keep on moaning like we tend to do in this country!

Why would you do that? All of the energy operators operate in the same market and there is already free choice and competition.

They ALL buy from the same global trading positions,they all have to pay distribution costs and green levys.The only thing they can cut back on and try and save is staffing and operational costs..

Energy prices are fair and there is competition. The issue is the lack of understanding by most people as to how Energy markets work in this country now.

1. Staffing costs: How much of a bonus do the energy bosses get? How much have their profits gone UP? I the price hike is genuinely because their own costs have gone up, then their profits should in no way be that high!

2. Fair prices: We pay the highest prices in Europe (cheaper only than Estonia I think). If the rest of Europe can get their energy cheaper, then maybe the energy bosses ought to find out how they too can provide their customers a better service. They get paid enough for it...

Ed Millibands just given First Utility a huge free advert by switching to them after receiving a £1000 energy bill. I can see their call centres slowing up even more now with the influx of new customers

Friday 20th december 6pm till sunday 22nd december 6 am, everyone should turn off any electric xmas decorations. Wonder what impact that would have on useage/ profit if done on a national scale?
Plus we could be saving the country from blackouts!
