Switch from EDF Fixed to New EDF Fixed

Looking for some advice please. I am currently on EDFs Fixed Price tariff to March 2014. Would it be worth while foregoing the remaining 5 months on this deal and going for their Fixed Price to 2017? I'm really unsure what to do.

Thanks.

Me neither! There's a similar thread (actually there's several others too) at

Good sense is saying move to EDF BPF March 2017. But its a 38% whack up immediately, through this winter! We are all electric (except cooking) so electricity bills are big.

I'm on EDF fix til April 2014 -switch to 2017 fix would cost me over £400 per annum ,most of which will be over the next 6 months,so I'm sticking til the Spring - can't afford the cost of the bet!

Like the other posters, I'm in this position and will not be moving to the 2017 tariff. It's a rise of 30% plus, and I will use about 90% of my annual gas consumption before the fix ends.

If you switch to another EDF tariff you also lose the 6% DD (or dual fuel, I forget) discount on the present tariff.
  • It seems EDF will be maintaining current prices for this year. So I guess that means 1 Jan 2014 will see prices rise. I guess just before then, current new fixes will be pulled.
