Problems Installing Windows 8

I have installed Windows 8 on my 5 year old Toshiba Equium laptop which had Vista installed from new. Although I selected the option which was not to save anything a “clean install” Vista is still there.
I tried using Disc Clean up which when using it said it was deleting previous versions of windows but Vista is still there. C drive currently says Vista (C 44.4 GB free of 55.6 GB. It also says Hard Disc Drives (2)
A fortnight ago I installed Windows 8 in my 4 year old HP PC, no problem. PC says 430 GB free of 455 GB (no mention of vista) also has Microsoft Office installed.
I used the exact same method of installation on both machines which was printed off the microsoft website.
Both copies of Windows 8 Pro are legit, purchased them from Amazon.
Can anyone tell me why the laptop still says Vista although it is running Windows 8?
Thanks
