Fitting thermostatic mixer shower

I have a mixer shower I need to fit and the outlet needs to be connected to the pipe work it looks like a straight compression coupler does not have enough thread to go all the way into the outlet - is there a special fitting like a normal straight compression coupler with a longer thread on one side that you can get for this

The only thing I have been able to find is that maybe I need a parallel connector instead of a tapered one

The parallel one has a ring over the centre nut

Is this what I need to prevent slight leakage
