£15000 for "a few years" sounds hugely wrong. It'd take 10 years for an average household to build up that much debt. Is the bill(s) generated from estimated or actual readings? Why has he not paid the bills over the past few years?
Even with a prepayment meter it'd take them a hell of a long time to reap back £15000.0 -
they swapped the meter a few yrs ago from an old one to a more modern one and there have been problems since then, meter reading are taken regularly the gas bill is just over a £1000 and the other is for electric

Get ready for prepay meters to be installed together with a whopping weekly debt charge added which you will pay as you use your energy. I am afraid the free energy tariff is now at an end. EDF will be charging , when they raise their prices, for prepay meters, something in the order of 13.75 p per kwhr for electric with a £1.20 a week standing charge. The debt they will add will be at least £15 a week. Gas will be approx 5.0 p per kwhr with something like 26p a day standing charge along with a £15 a week debt repay. Any refusal to accept the prepays will be met with a warrant to enter fee of approx £150 with more fees for a locksmith.0

Is £14000 of the £15000 bill for electricity?. If so its highly likely the meter is being misread or is faulty.allisoninredditch wrote: »they swapped the meter a few yrs ago from an old one to a more modern one and there have been problems since then, meter reading are taken regularly the gas bill is just over a £1000 and the other is for electric
thank you for your reply
How much were the bills before the meter change?. Exactly how long ago were the meters changed?0 -
If that is true then i am amzed that suppliers have not yet taken action.
On another point, its good advice not to live in a home that you have no right to occupy.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
