Applying for Credit Card after getting mortgage

in Credit cards
Hi all
A little bit of advice needed. I've recently completed on a house purchase, however I will not be living there for approx another month.
When applying for a credit card, how would I fill out the information? For example it asks whether I rent / own a house, but also asks for my address.
Can I say I own a house, but enter my current address, and not the address of the house I own? Or is that implying I own the house I currently live at?
At the moment, my address for everything remains at my old address (parents house), so entering my new address will certainly result in me being declined!
Hope this makes sense - Thank you in advance for any help.

I would say answer the questions honestly.
If it says "Do you own your own home", then I'd answer No, because your parents house is currently your home.
If it says do you own property then the answer is yes.0 -
I would say you will be declined as you have just had a massive credit commitment added to your file, you need to leave it about 6 months before applying.0

I don't agree with the above.
Firstly it can take many months for new credit agreements to be added (you can check either for free or for £2 statutory report).
But also secured and unsecured credit are completely different things.
Someone with a mortgage is quite possibly not anymore committed than someone paying rent from an affordability point of view.
A thiird point is that mortgage is probably registered at new address.
If current address is HOME and the questions are answered honestly then it might not even show.
Credit checks are done on a name AND an address.0 -
If in doubt about the questions then call the company.
You get all sorts of conflicting advice from strangers (all well intentioned I'm sure).0 -

I took out 2 interest free credit cards right after I got the keys to my house.. to put the decorating costs on them.
I think I put them under my mums address as I was still living there for a few months whilst decorating my new place... I didnt change my address on everything until I moved it...0 -
Thanks for your help everyone!0

Surely the address you use will need to match the address that the CRAs have for you, the one you're registered at according to the electoral role?
Or at least you'll have to have that down as your previous address, or you'll be declined because they can't match you with a known address.0 -
The electoral register is just a snapshot at that time - so the fact that your arrangement is different now is not something to worry about.
Application forms request details for addresses over the last X year, so just put the truthfull details down.. time at current address - what you have just bought one month - then add the necessary information for the history. afterall you would have mortgage correspondence and now registered for council tax purposes as the new address, and assume you've had searches done when setting up and transferring insurances - say household and car?..0
